I was given a cam from a friend awhile back when he was cleaning out his garage. It's an 8v, high performance cam, thats all he knows about it. It looks brand new. I was thinking about putting it into my 91 GTI, but didn't want to put the wrong cam in, this is all thats imprinted on the cam.... It has the Letter "G" stamped on one end. the #'s 049G 1168 WZO and finally "GER-MANY" stamped onto the other end. Does any one have a clue about this mystery cam? I'd really appreciate any info I could get.

Just a guess but could be the famous G grind 260º that all the G-60 people would swap into the corrados.. good cam for forced induction.. as anything bigger and you would be blowing boost right out your arse.

It sounds like an A1 GTI solid G grind.

I just checked the G-grind cam I've got, and w/ the exception of the '1168' (mine says 4527, but it looks like a stamping rather than being cast in), it's the same. I'm pretty sure you've got a solid lifter G-grind cam.

Well I found out today, it's a 260. Oh well I thought I had my self something special.

go sell it on the forced induction forum. Some one with a 2.0T or G60 will buy it.
