Can dealers add 17's to a GTI with 16's from the factory?

There's a GTI I might be interested in, but it's got the factory 16's (what does VW call those?). Will a dealer be able to add Santa Monicas? I'm guessing no.

So what are my options? Live with the 16's (smoother ride at least), or go aftermarket and spend a bundle?
Why is it nobody seems to stick with the 16's? I agree the 17s look HOT!
My choice seems to be Rave Green with 17's & leather or Silver with black cloth & 16's. Silver is common but it looks soooooo clean!!!

A new car. If it's got 16s from the factory, but I want the VW 17's that are normally an option, can I get them added?

I'm not NO expert by any means..but i can tell you what happened with me. I told my dealer i wanted an indigo blue 1.8T GTI with black cloth interior ,and the 17's..and thats what i got. I'm not sure what kinda engine your gettin..if that matters or not...but i think my orange juice is SPIKED

EDIT the dealer didnt have the exact car i wanted..so they got it from another dealer][/EDIT]

1.8T.
So your invoice shows 16's but the dealer had 17's to install for you?
No sunroof? They're hard to find without sunroof. (I don't really want one on my next VW).
Nice looking car Joe!

You can get them, but you'ss have to pay full retail for them and that's a lot. You might be better off getting aftermarket or used wheels.

They can add it in their shop!
Don't let them fool ya. As market low as it is, you should be telling them what to do.....

Depends on the dealer most likely. Gunther seems willing to add the 17's for the same price.. but only because they sell alot of cars with non-VW rims thrown in. So, they probably have a ton laying around unsold!

My 1.8T came with 17" from the factory. There was a $400 charge on the window sticker for the option. I felt the price was right and there were no worries about selling the 16" later. Now, if they would of came with some good rubber... I dont need M/S here.

SB-SP - time to defecate or get off the pot, man! You have been waffling on cars for a while now

Okay. Seems to depend on the dealer big time.
Well, are the 16's that bad? Everybody seems to go for the 17's on GTIs, and for $400 wheels/tires it's a great price.
I need to decide on a silver/black cloth with 16's or Rave Green/tan leather with 17's. Grrrr - hate these kinda decisions!

You should be able to replace them for a minimum amount of money. Make it part of the bargaining process......

You can use it as leverage abit, tell the dealer that you'll buy it if they add the 17's on for you at no extra cost. I wish I had done that.

As far as physically fitting on the car, they will.
ALL current A4 platform cars have the exact same tire diameter so your speedometer will be acurate. It's the same if you have 15, 16, or 17 inch wheels.
The only thing different between all the various sizes is the "tread width" and the "profile".
