Possibly... but just go with the mark and match method, never failed me before, whiteout or nailpolish on the belt and gears and just match it back up.
can i change the water pump without messing up the timing on a 1.8t?
im assuming i can?? wind a screw in the tensioner to give it a little slack and remove and apply waterpump. reason i ask is the last 2 times i did the timing belt, i couldnt get the timing right....always a tooth off and had to get my vw mechanic buddy to correct my wrong.
