Can I make a turbo manifold out of the dual outlet mani?

Soo.. I have an extra dual outlet mani and was wondering if i could just hack off the flange and weld on a T3 one?
Or am i just better off spending the $$ for a cast mani..?
Manifold in quiestion..

better yet just flip it upside down like you have it int the pic. Make a adapter and your set. You will have to make the adapter angled forward.
ive seen adapters like zornig described made to do just that on a few japanese cars. seems like they work, and pretty damn well too.

I have seen it done, and it was like Zornig described. (Flipped over).
However, I would definitely avoid welding cast iron at all costs. You can make a nice mild steel adapter faily easily.
Good luck!
Hmm... Wouldnt making an adaptor mess up the exhaust flow thou? I mean, joining 2 ports into 1 with in an inch or so?
Hmm
Re: (Satur9)

Not if you make it transitional. Use a flange with two holes, and use two weld-els to make a merge collector. Done! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

yup it works greats actually...this setup is on my bunny and the same adapter works on a mk2...

all together...

and on the bunny...

credit goes to blackmk2 on the tex for design of the flange/adapter

Damn thats nice..
Looks like thats what i'm gonna have to do!
Any more specs on your engine?
Re: (Satur9)

That setup will not work on your 85 unless you have a crossflow head. I had issues with a friends turbo not clearing the solid shift linkage (stock motor). It gets really tight on the counter flow heads back there with a turbo.
Looks like a GREAT setup for a cross flow though!
Re: (Satur9)

I had this exact works fine as long as the person welding it know what there doing cheap and great for a ABA xflow heres the one I had .

Ahh yes.
I think the person who you sold it too is trying to sell that mani still..
Re: (DubSTYLE)

Where did you get the dual outlet flange to make the adaptor piece?

knowing the guy wo made it, he likely sat down with some calipers, measured it up, cad'd it and then had it laser or water cut

Re: (DubSTYLE)

The best manifold to use would be the mk4 2.0 manifold. It's a nice tubular design. You'll need to weld the SAI holes shut, and in order to do this it's gotta be flipped upside down to mount the turbo above. There's not enough room to mount the turbo down below.
Yea, i almost picked one up ebay.. but i decided to spend my $$ other places since i already have 2 dual outlet mani's to play with..
I'm sure it'll work just fine.
Yea, i saw that too..
I kinda like Dubstyle's setup thou, it seems cleaner to me..
I made one out of a toilet bowl stlye mani with a Grand National flange and turbo works great
