quote:

Sorry, thought you had a 1.8T, you should be fine as long as you didn't throw any codes in regards to the rev limiter.

Or just rev it past factory redline. Or look at the turbo's output (over .5 bar)
Love my EMCS. Toggle over to stock in the dealer's lot...
Forgot to mention what is now below. No matter what, nothing is invisible
they cant detect it if.
you got a separte ecu and chip it and got a vagcom to clear all the codes. make sure to switch bettween the stock and chiped ecus (and leave the chipped one at home when you go to the dealer) and dont brag about it at the dealer

Re: Can the GIAC chip be detected by VW? (nate1.8t)
GIAC chips are invisible to the VAG 1552 scan tool.
However a visual inspection of an open ECU will reveal the chip
dealer service techs aren't allowed to open the ECUs though, only regional VWoA reps are. If they suspect a ECU or Chip related problem its probable the tech will call the VW rep for further investigation.

Look, a chipped 1.8T is going to be obvious by anyone who takes a test drive... but from where you parked it to a service bay and back, probably not. A VR6 is undetectable (except for an unlikely visual inspection) and could be taken as just a healthy motor – I've been told that some stock VR6s are rockets and others are dogs. And I've been told by SRS that the GIAC is not detectable by the VAG tool.

Why does it matter? Your warrantee can not be void until you actually break the car. BTW my dealer has known about my chip since day one. They dont seem to care.

Oh yes it does matter!
The goal here is to get warrantee work done when the car breaks even if it is chipped... not happening if the dealer knows about it.
