Anyone have any information on this set up, 0-60 acceleration, etc., etc.
I am getting ready to do a trans and have been thinking about different ratios as I think the stock CCM ratios are to wide for an all motor VR6 on the track. Looking and digging around at all VW ratios I kept seeing this "CHA" trans code for VR6 Canadian O2A that has a 3.94 R&P (what I am switching to) but look at the gear ratios:
_________1st___2nd___3rd___4th___5th___R&P___Notes
CHA====3.778=2.118=1.360=0.917=0.717=3.944==VR6 Canada
CDM====3.300=1.944=1.308=1.034=0.838=3.647==VR6 Corrado NA
CCM====3.300=1.944=1.308=1.034=0.838=3.389==VR6 GTI/Jetta NA

First gear looks like it could get ugly as far as traction, but with the correct tires and launch it could controlled. 3rd to 4th is a little bit of a drop off but that could be swapped out to a closer ratio.

Re: Canadian O2A transmission - Look here (FatSean)

You could go with the Passat VR6 Ratio: Code ACG
1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th final
3.778 2.105 1.345 0.971 0.795 3.944
It's geared to haul it's fat-ass up to speed as quick as possiable, not bad for if you don't plan on being in 5th when you cross the 1/4 mark.
(info taken from the Bently CD, if it's wrong don't kill the messenger)

That is the Passat 16V ratios (same as one of the G60 boxes)... but the final should be 3.687 rather than the 3.94 that you listed.
The plan is to try and have the car in 4th and reving out at the best RPM/Power band.

That Canada Gear ratio is a TDI tranny gear with a 3.94 final drive. hahahaaa
I know because I have a almost brand new TDI tranny off a '03 and those are it's gear ratios except the 5th is 0.75 instead of 0.71 and the final is a 3.389
Which I am planning to sell hella cheap!

Re: Canadian O2A transmission - Look here (schrickedVR6)

I just did the math based of of a 23" stock tire ratio... that CHA 4th gear would actually have me going through at around 5500 RPM where as the CCM Stock 4th would have me up at 6250 wich is dead on my peak power output. hmmmm, I am going to try playing with mixing the CHA 1, 2 & 3 with the CCM 4th and see what I come up with.

Funny, I went thru my timeslips the other day and that trans only has 273 passes down the 1/4 mile.... remember I didn't get bored and start racing this car till late in Fall 2001.

Re: Canadian O2A transmission - Look here (VRQUICK)

111,000 mile and going... I am happy to say that I am accountable for 104,000 of those miles. When I got this car the dealer was using it for show/sales type thing, taking it to fairs, malls, wherever the dealer was running a promo. THe car was built late in November 1995, the dealer aquired it in early January 1996... I bought the car from them on June 3, 1996.
I had my my Jetta in there getting the damn window regulator looked at as well asa busted glove box... when I wen to pick up the Jetta I saw the GTI sitting in the showroom, filled out the paperwork and bought it right then and there. Funny thing is, I never got to see the Jetta again as it was in the service garage, they just brought out a box w/ my stuff from the glove box and took my surf rack off.
I never got around to racing this as all of my track time was still behind the wheel of the Nova up till late 1998. Lost the garage and had to dump all three Novas that I had, the 66 SS 327 was the last one to go. Took a break from racing for a year or two... got bored one night and headed to Cecil County w/ the GTI....

Re: Canadian O2A transmission - Look here (ricers-beware)

Wait that is wrong... it has to be spring 2001 as I remeber the first time I met Tim and Anthony it was at Maple Grove in the summer during a NIRA event. I wasn't racing but the best pass when I met Tim was a 14.89. I just remember it was colder out that night I ran... I will look when I get home. I didn't run that entire summer as I had it in my head that I was going to grenade the trans... as soon as I ordered a Quaife the next fall is when I started taking it out as I had the parts to replace if it did go.
If I recall correct the very first two passes were a 15.09 and a 15.14 w/ the 60's at around 2.4's. Didn't quite know what to think of a front wheel drive launch yet... didn't take long to nail it down though.
