can't afford the PTS 911 I want, so bought a PTS S4

back in 2021, my wife and I made plans to relocate. unfortunately, part of those plans included selling my 2014 S4 to help free up funds, but with the goal of me ordered a new S4 when we achieved our familial goals.

by end of 2021, we managed to sell my S4, buy a house in Indianapolis, move, get married, and sell my house in Columbus Indiana. in December 2021, I was able to put in an order with FJA for a MY22 S4 in an Audi Exclusive color. Jack (and Brandon of course) where phenomenal to work with. had a quick discussion with Jack (FJA S/RS specialist) about what colors I liked and he sent over a list of VAG colors. after some searching, I really liked the Porsche Etna Blue suggestion and settled on that. they had to make some calls with Audi to get the paint approved, but once it was, all that remained was an allocation. with all of 2022 happenings (war in Ukraine impacting part production) and delays related to the Exclusive paint and allocations, the car was kicked to a MY23. some of the pricing changed, but was still about where I wanted to be.

beginning of 2023, the good folks at FJA heard some rumblings of production and gave me an approximate production and delivery window. I didn't hear anything for a couple weeks, but it didn't bother me - I knew it was being handled to the best of their ability. then I received a ship name and screenshot from Marine Tracker that my car had completed production and was on a RoRo ship (M/V Sunshine Ace - Felicity Ace sister ship!) headed for the port of Houston. quick transit from Houston to Chicago, and my car was stocked, PDI'd, and ready for delivery.

I drove up to Chicago from Indianapolis on Tuesday in my 2019 GTI SE, signed all the paperwork, and turned around and headed back to Indianapolis in the new car. as a side point, the mk7.5 GTI really is a fantastic machine, and I'm a little bummed I couldn't keep it and the S4. it was the perfect run around car. I bought it with 29k miles and traded it in with 32k miles. I did an oil change at 30k miles and installed a set of Michelin PS AS4's, and that's it. I really wanted to do a rear sway bar and ECM tune, but held off knowing this was a short-term ownership vehicle.

anyway, I'm going to whore some pictures, because I think it's such a beautiful color and it's my first new car. looking forward to getting through the break-in, get some tint, PPF, and enjoy the car stock for a while.

Saw your IG post this morning.

Congrats. I love blue on cars, and this is stellar. Thank you for also spec'ing black optics. It looks fantastic.

Enjoy the car from another "I did a road trip to FJ Audi" buyer.

Congrats. Seems like there is a resurgence of S4 owners in TCL. Is it making a come back?

Congrats, that color looks great! It definitely feels like there is a B9 takeover happening in TCL.

That's a great color, congrats.

On a side note, do you happened to know HAWK with the roofless garage?

I think it's a good value right now if you like the sedan form factor. All model years of this gen still look and feel modern (and really good IMO) despite coming out in 2016, and the S4 is often overlooked lately within the Audi lineup because of the popularity of the S5 SB and SQ5.

I love seeing Porsche 356 colors on new cars. It's like a little bit of the 356 gets to live on...even if it's on another brand within the VAG family...and Aetna Blue is definitely one of the prettier ones out there. Also looks like your dealer is a big fan as well...

Seems a bit of a misnomer to call Etna/Aetna an Audi exclusive though.
Congrats on the new car, great color! Welcome to the S4 family!

“Audi Exclusive” is just the program name for non-standard colors…

Congrats on the S4! I'm in the same boat re: the bolded part. TCLer "what" is buying a Rivian and has offered his '20 S4 Premium Plus in Turbo Blue for the amount of the lease buyout. While it's a great deal, I'd have to get rid of my 2019 GTI SE and I really am having a tough time making that decision :D.

that's a tough one!

we have a 6-month old, so if we took the GTI anywhere, it was a tight fit with me, my wife, his car seat, and stroller. I'm only 5'7" and I had to move my seat forward to fit the car seat behind me, so that wasn't very fun.

fortunately no HAWK garage here. most of the garages on our street face the backyard. it's kind of a pain in the ass to be honest, but I like the look of not seeing a garage door.
