Car Stalled
Sorry for cross-posting, but i havent gotten and responses from the mk3 forum yet:
When i came to a stop at a stop sign today, the car just quit on me (happened twice at different times today). She started right back up like nothing was wrong...no check engine light or anything. The car was kind of cold, I'm wondering if it is because i unhooked my battery yesterday, that maybe the computer needs to readjust itself? car has been running just fine besides that, and everything else seems to work. It was light out, but i didn't notice anything dimming inside the car. I had the fuse box pulled down yesterday to look at something, but i only unplugged one plug for the parking lights, and i put everything back together exactly the way it was before.

actually, I think this has happened to me once or twice. Maybe you didn't have the clutch pushed in all the way or something

Every time I unhook the battery on my '96 does this, the idle is very erratic (up and down), and most of the time it stalls at every stop. It goes away after a day or two depending on how much I drive the car. I'm pretty sure it is the computer "relearning".

Another cause for stalling after coming to a stop is a dirty throttle body. If your problem doesn't go away after a few days, try to buy some throttle body cleaner and clean that sucker real good.
I basically had the same symptoms and my dirty TB was the cause.

mine stalled on Sunset Blvd (@ La Cienega) twice in a row. this was after changing lanes by punching in 2nd...and at 4500 rpm my car stuttered and my EPC, CEL and ASR went on. bad MAF, got replaced by dealer. anyhoo, Sunset/La Cienega was the next intersection and as i was sitting there with my foot on the brake my car went dead, two times in a row after restarting. fortunately the third time it started and i didn't have to tow.
