Well, the post said it all. I was leaving work last night and started the car. No big deal. Let it warm up for 3 mins. as usual...just to let oil circulate. Pull out of the parking lot and as I fully let out the clutch pedal and step on the gas, the damn thing died! I had my ass hanging out in traffic and the P.O.S. didn't start back up for almost 5 mins. of cranking. I eventually got it started and nursed it home. I kept the motor revving at 2500 just to make sure it didn't stall, but anytime I let it fall below 1200, it started to crap out. Any ideas? Or do I need to pound on the dealers door tomorrow?

Re: Car stalls in the rain!! HELP (Clean97GTi)

You may have a cracked coil pack (or distributor cap, if that's what you have). A test is to get the engine running and spray the coil pack with a mist of water and see if there is sparking. Until you get it replaced, I'd spray it with WD-40 to displace the moisture.

Re: Car stalls in the rain!! HELP (JettaRed)

I'll second JettaRed's suggestion and add that you should do a search for coil packs. Someone here has a how-to that involves coating the coil pack in epoxy to help keep it together.
