STOLEN/RECOVERED Wednesday 7th January
Rare Mitsubishi recovered thanks to online networking
A number of Aston Martins were recovered recently after an observant member of the public spotted them racing through the Blackwall Tunnel without number plates.
Police closed the exit of the tunnel and the thieves were apprehended.
A stolen car was recovered last night thanks to a nice bit of networking amongst online car communities.
A rather distinctive Mitsubishi Eclipse - a rare car anyway - was stolen by a thief posing as a potential buyer on Saturday. Stripped of its rear wing and stickers, it was still a rare enough car to stand out from the crowd though.
Knowing that, members of the GTOUK forums pushed the info around many forums on the web, paying particular attention to cruise sites.
And they came up trumps! Cruisers in Carlisle spotted the car yesterday evening - complete with false plates - and alerted police as they followed from a distance. A number of police cars descended on the stolen car and apprehended the driver.
