Anyone know of any carbon fiber engine covers on the market aside from the ABD one? I'm looking for something that preferably, won't have been painted with the manufacturer's logo already. Thanks for any input.

That's hot!
Is it a replacement cover or does it fit on top of the old one?

The ADB carbon fiber cover fits over the existing plastic one. There isn't a true carbon fiber cover on the market for the transverse 1.8T that I know of.

Nevermind, I retract my hot to death statement. Someone needs to make one, for a reasonable price, then someone need to host a GB, so I can get it for even cheaper.

Very true, and I hope that no one got the impression that the ABD kit isn't quality or a decent deal by my saying it's just a stick on. The price for what you get isn't bad. The RS4 carbon fiber engine cover that fits on the S4 retails for $600.
Working in carbon fiber, at least as far as most automotive fabrication goes, isn't so much hard as it is time consuming and requires meticulous craftsmanship. I work in an industry that utilizes carbon fiber, and the company I currently work for has made many advancements in the industrial uses of carbon fibers.

Where in Houston can I find a carbon-fiber or lookalike pipe about 16" long and 2.5"ish wide?

I don't have access to any of our carbon fiber based pipeline stuff, but I doubt we have anything that small.
As far as where to get it locally, I'm not sure. I can ask around, but I'm not aware of any place that stocks it locally.

They're demo/testing pieces actually, and certainly not the types of cosmetically appealing CF pieces most people are thinking about.
If you consider what the major business areas of the Gulf Coast area of Texas are, I'm sure you'll realize I currently work for an oil company, though I've only been here since I got laid off from Enron. One of the company's businesses is the manufacture of carbon fibers for use by other manufacturers. They've done some great work in producing cheaper and stronger Carbon Fiber technology. I don't work in that area though.
