So the hood started to get dull. I figured it had clear coat so i wet sanded and then used cutting compound. To my surprise, it was still dull
Is there a way to bring back the clear coat like shine??

If not, I'm gonna paint the hood.

Why in the world would you wet sand????? And what grade of paper did you finish off with and you say .. compound??? How was it done?

1000 then 1500 then 2000 grit.
Used 3M tech II, something like that.
I wet sanded it because it was dull in some spots and shiny on others. I wanted to even it out.

What buffer? Maybe you have clear failure originally .. was it always dull in spots?

It was fine for about a year, then it slowly started getting dull.
Sounds like the clear did fail then.
I was never fond of the carbon fiber look so I'll probably paint it.

To finish off/repair what you've done:
Do a section at a time! Do not try to do the whole car with each step!
sand 2000 grit
rubbing compound
polish/glaze
carnuba-based cleaner wax
buff with lambs wool bonnet
You can get all these things at Pep-Boys.

You can do it by hand or buy a Porter Cable Dual Action Orbital Sander/Polisher. Use a block when sanding, if doing it by hand.
