Just trying to get some information on this
i know oil starvation and such will kill turbos
but what else?
EGT's? whats the general limit and such

What else causes turbos to die??? A heavy foot the majority of the time.

why have i seen so many people running between 10-20psi for a looooooooooong time on the k03s???...from what i have seen most people that do get chipped run the same k03s for like 80k miles+ ....is this just luck??...what would be a safe number to keep the k03s at then?...capping it at 20psi with an overboost kit?...

Has nothing to do with boost, its TEMPERATURE. It just happens that running high boost out of a turbos efficiency makes it hotter .

aaahhh ok gotcha...so in reality the specs on the k03s are only for what...15psi max maybe?

also...keep in mind, the turbo becomes hotter as more exhaust gas flows through it.....to reach 20+ psi the wastegate is closed completely and thus driving all the gases through the turbine. This increases the heat + stress on the turbine and then the heat is dispersed into the cooling + oil. Heat indirectly causes more strain on the turbo. But you cannot make more power on a Ko3 without causing it to cook. Hence the number of blown turbos.

right.. running more boost = more spin = more heat = more stress on the journal bearing etc..
