CEL's constanly showing up

678 Views 9 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  SILVERADO
This one has been on for a while now:
16795- Secondary Air Injection system- Incorrect flow detected
Does this mean that the check valve/ or solenoid has gone out?
00853- Loudspeaker rear
36-10 Open Circuit- Intermittent
Am I sure it's blown, but I couldnt tell because I dont listen to the radio too much, just the sound of the exhaust

And one more thing, what kind of readings should I be getting from the MAF sensor at idle? Mine read 3.61-3.68 g/s. Is this correct? Or should it be up in the 5's?
Thanks in advance

Re: CEL's constanly showing up (JasonP)

i also have code 16795 light up, which i htink is the secondary air pump, and need some help. does anyone know how to check if the pump is dead or not, and any other ideas. the fuse behind the driver side light looks fine.
I also got code #17990 which i forget what the problem listed was, (i had someone else run the diagnostic and dont have my bentley available right now). it did light up upon start up at the same time as the 16795 after they were both cleared.
Please help!

anyone?
Re: CEL's constanly showing up (corduroy79)

BTW, I cleaned the MAF tonight and it didn't help any.......
Re: CEL's constanly showing up (JasonP)

The secondary air pump solenoid you are talking about has a small vacuum hose going to it,check that hose for leaks, snip 1/2 inch off end of hose and replug,it mght re-seal itself. You will get the code for 2ndary air flow if that solenoid does not open for whatever reason. It could be a bad "vacuum switching valve",follow the line from solenoid. The next things are the pump itself (in front of motor)the air hose coming off pump,or the pump relay. You can unplug the pump and jumper the connections and see if it makes noise (runs)Visually check the accordian air hose for cracks. The relay and vacuum switch have to be tested with troubleshooting tools you may or may not have.Good luck!!

Thanks Silverado, I'm gonna check that out tomorrow.I called the dealer about it and they didn't have anything to say!! I can always hear my pump so I dont thinks it that. But I bet I can fix it tomorrow

Re: CEL's constanly showing up (JasonP)

If your pump is running then I would suspect a crack in the line going from pump to valve on the exhaust manifold,or the valve is failed/sticking/leaking,good luck!
Re: CEL's constanly showing up (SILVERADO)

yep, it was the vacuum line from the solenoid to the check valve!!! It was completely broken off. I am seriously doubting these braided vacuum lines that VW uses. This is the second one so far. I'm remember on my old Beetles, those braided lines always went out!!
Thanks for all the help!!! ZERO dollar fix to a constant problem

Re: CEL's constanly showing up (JasonP)

Told ya I know and love my V-dubs.That braided line is of very high quality,it just has to endure high engine temps.I recommend using the same as a replacement.Just change it when it cracks and pat yourself on the back. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
