Change computer display from metric to U.S. Imperial?

Can anyone advise as to how one goes about changing the computer display (between the speedo and the tach) from metric to U.S. Imperial?
I know how to change the temperature reading (press ECON and AUTO simultaneously on the Climatronic), but I would like the option of reading the fuel economy in MPG, distances in miles, etc.
Can this be done easily, or does it require a module change or a jumper setting change?

You'll need a VAG-COM to make the change.
What you have to do is check the coding in the instruments section of the ECU. The third digit corresponds to the country code. US is country code 2, GB is 4, which should give you a 24 hour clock.
