This is the line that has short rubber at its terminations, that are connected by a short much smaller diameter rigid line.
Mine was quite brittle, and it snapped while I was removing the manifold in order to change the VVT solenoids. I replaced it with a single rubber hose when putting the engine back together. But, I'm thinking that the smaller diameter rigid line was there for a reason...Like speeding/strengthening the vacuum for the changeover vacuum system.
Does anyone know this reason? I'll go to the dealer and see if I can still order one, make one, or something, if it effects the working of the changeover vacuum pump.
