I'm going to change the turn signal bulb in my GTi tomorrow (it's been blinking real fast for about 3 months), but I don't know how to get the casing open. Can someone give me a link to a diagram I could look at, or just give me a detailed explanation (pretend I'm a moron). I need to know by about 1am tonight, thanks as usual 'texers.

Re: Changing turn signal bulb (iamdoingthat)

Stick a flathead screwdriver in on the inside edge (towards center of car) of the dummy plate. Gently pry, the plate should pop open, it's hinged on the outside edge. Pivot out and remove dummy plate by unsnapping hinge (pull towards inside). On the inside edge of the turnsignal are two metal spring clips, that push against the bumper. Push those spring clips outward (into the blinker housing) and the blinker will pop out. Then you turn counterclockwise on the connector in back to remove the bulb. When you reassemble, make sure to put the tabs on the outside edge of the turn signal back into their holes in the bumper so it will snap in. Very easy, 10-min procedure
