Charger rebuilds

I just picked up my motor tonite.
Im soooo happy, but the charger now has about 96K miles on it. I really hate to pay someone to rebuild my charger if I can do it myself. Is there any special tools needed? I am a certified GM tech. So I have a clue on what im doing. But this is my first G60 and I dont want to screw anything up. Any tips will be appreciated.
Also, does anyone know of a place where I can buy a non A/C kit? I also need to know if anyone makes a kit to remove the silencer box or if anyone has a pic of something I could make.
Thanks for all of the help. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: Charger rebuilds (GTibunny16v)

I myself have a clue as to whats going on (not saying I know it all), but I would still rather pay someone who knows it all good money for a good job (KK).
As far as non ac kits, BBM, rpi and several other tuners carry them. The rallye outlet for the charger will eliminate the silencer box. If you really have the money and the connections, look for a rallye golf IC setup. Very sweet.

KK?? Is that a G60 shop? Im looking for a good rebuild for a fair price. I think that $700 is a little much for something that has to be done every 50k-60k miles. Im sorry, but Im new to this whole G60 thing so please be patient. Where can I get a rallye outlet? I see that BBM has one but is there anyone cheaper? Also the rallye IC (which is very sweet) will probably not fit in my rabbit. I am using a custom water/air IC anyway.
pigbladder : I am always the first inline to pick up the new PVW. We dont get it here until the 14-15th of every month. I read good things about Jabbasport in PVW. I will check them out to see how much shipping is on those rallye parts.

Thanks for the info.

KK is kompressor kanada
$700 for a rebuild is a very fair price.
if you want the VW coupler that eliminates the silencer box (rallye outlet) we sell them for $85 for the full kit.
trust me, save your pennies and do the rebuild before you start spending on "show" items.
have a look at the poll for best SC rebuild and go from there.
Best of luck!

Re: Charger rebuilds (slingshotG60)

I dont really want show items. But the silencer box has a gap in it and I think it is going to leak or it is leaking. So I will need something to replace it. I want to get the charger ported also. I dont know, i might just sell it and go turbo.
