Yeah, I'm trying to buy brake pads for this vehicle and there are parts for two different chassis numbers.
A message asks:
To which chassis range does the vehicle belong?
000001-
or
238 581-
I believe the number indicates whether the brake pads have wear sensors but can't confirm.

My 2002 Golf TDI has brake wear sensors.
There is an easier way to check. Remove the driver side front wheel. If there is a wire coming out of the inner brake pad... there is your answer.
