I thought I'd share this with you guys. What do you think? This is a copy'n'paste job from my website.

First off, this only works for the old school US spec bumpers. We're going to tint the turn signals here without applying any of that 'tint paint'. Instead we are going to use a piece of tinted plexiglass (Thanks to Skog) to cover up that orange. The plexiglass is about 4mm thick and I cut it down to size with tablesaw
(cuts it beautifully).
As you can see, the tint is quite dark and the texture is super smooth. Very sexy.

And at a different angle.

The beauty of this little mod is that we require no glue, screws, or anything.. we just press the piece of plexiglass right into the recess! That means we had to get the cut slightly larger than the measurement of the OEM signals. Then we just sand down the edges and corners until they fit in nice and snug.

NICE! And it protects those OEMS signals! Not the mention how sexy it looks. In the next pic you can tell that the recess has been filled in a bit more, giving that smoother look to that gaping hole of an indicator.

Booyah! And if a coppamobile pulls you over, just take em off before he gets a second glance! No visible screws, yucky glue, only girls and smiles!

Re: Cheap, but stylish. (Hayato)

I think US spec smalls are hideous no matter what you do, but that looks allright

I would secure it with something, though, cause with road vibrations you're gonna lose it eventually

Man, this stuff is old news. I was doin' this to corrados befo' you was a sparkle in yo' pappy's eye!
No, seriously, we did this to a corrado (fogs were beat!!! orange turns) about 4 years ago...they lasted a long time...i can't remember how we secured them, but they looked better than stock. The car had been drivin' up skiing from denver like every day for years so its front end was hammered (a bra and these homemade covers made it look okay again) with rock pits and chips (worst case i had ever seen)!

That's great for someone like me, because I get tired of the same look all the time, so I would be able to go back and forth between the "black out" look and clean stock. That's a very smart idea and if you make them snug enough, they won't fall out. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Hey thanks guys! I gotta say, these do look nice up close, especially on a night with lots of city light reflection of 'em. I haven't had them jump off my bumper yet! so far, so good. I had to pry them out with a putty knife to loosen them out, so they are pretty secure.
Also if you look real close up to the top piccy, you can see that the edges and corners have to bevelled so the plexipiece wedges itself in nicely.
This should work on Jetta bumpers too with US spec.
Have fun with your version, post em if you make one, heh.
Power to the small bumpers.
