I'm sure it will be the lower priced electric fastback SUV to the "Corvette's" mega-priced one.

X3 on this being exactly what happens.

Fortunately the Camaro already sucks so we're not losing anything important.

The true tragedy is i am sure GM will learn the wrong lessons from it. They will decide V8 RWD performance coupes can't sell unless they are Corvettes, ignoring how bloody awful the Camaro form-factor was to live with on a daily basis, regardless of how wonderfully it performed by the end of its production run.

Maybe it will be a future performance BEV, though worth_fixing nailed the most likely scenario.

If only we could have gotten the Camaro's chassis, the Challenger's looks and flair, and the Mustang's Coyote in one glorious package that soldiered on for another decade, bellowing its defiance against the bevpocalypse through a set of Magnaflows.

Remember when GM tried to plug the previous absence of the Camaro with the SSR?

They'll bring it back as an electric vehicle and people will finally spell it correctly.... Camero

Camaro (with the last version) may have been the best overall when all performance aspects are considered. But the worst looking, most difficult to enter, and not very nice when inside. And that's for the last few gen's - this from a Chevrolet owner (Chevelle's el Camino's, early Camaro)

Mustang (as mentioned earlier in this topic) is truly the winner. Ford had some sort of rear-wheel drive, two-door Mustang throughout - never out of production, while Chevrolet (and Pontiac) muddled and blundered about starting and stopping production, and mostly having over-optioned dealer inventories while Mustang inventories were generally lower-priced (certainly locally).

Well if it's an EV, maybe CamEro (intentional branded capitalized E) to emphasize that it's an EV. Or they can give us part 3 of dumb names that sound too similar in the same brand and call it the Chevy Jolt.

Not that the Camaro was particularly affordable, but its death is the final nail in the coffin of “affordable” enthusiasts cars at GM. Even if you allow for the Wrangler/Bronco class or TRX/Raptor as enthusiast vehicles, GM is also absent in those categories. Other than the Vette and two Cadillac sedans which will likely retire soon, what does GM offer that enthusiasts aspire to? What GM products do teenagers hang on their bedroom wall? The Equinox?

I think the biggest culture shift among auto enthusiasts has kind of been the move away from on-road stuff to offroad stuff. I lament the decline in sport compact coupes and cheap RWD sporty cars, but we've seen an explosion in the popularity of trucks and 4x4s in that same time period. I think the Colorado (base, or on up to the ZR2) would be the logical "vaguely affordable" replacement of a V8 Camaro in terms of a vehicle you can reasonably afford on a good income by your 20s.
