Welcome to the Vortex.
For a VR6, I highly recommend GIAC (you will find that most people will point you in the same direction). The other option would be UPsolute.

Good luck with your decision. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
EDIT: This is the comparison I meant to give you: http://homepages.vdubaddiction...t.htm
But the one above is also helpful.
does anything else need to be upgraded when installing the chip... exhaust, intake, etc? how much does the GIAC chip cost? is it user installable? how much HP/torque gain on a 12v? thanks.
The main difficulty in installing the chip by yourself would be to attach it to the motherboard, or whatever it is called in an ECU. It's best to have a socket attached in case you want to swap your stock on back in.
The GIAC chip runs around $300. To find hp/tq gains you'd be better off to search in the 12v forum or just go to their website: http://www.giacusa.com
The chip will benefit the gains given by an intake and exhaust but are not necessary for the chip. You'll notice good gains with it alone. Adds more "meat" to the powerband. Best way I can describe it.
