You may have a code in the ECU. I felt the same thing a while back and checked for codes with my vagcom (even though the cel was off) there was a code (i don't remember what) and I reset it and poof, power restored.

Hey Shane....
You could be having MAF (Mass Air-Flow sensor) problems. Does it seem to take off right, and then flatten out around 3000-3500 rpm? Either that or your DV could be having some issues. If your MAF is bad, the check engine light should come on though....
Send Andy an e-mail, I'm sure he can help you out.

Re: chiped car getting slower...is it just me (vaseone)

I've been chasing the same problem in mine for months. It will only break loose in second if I powershift from 1st to 2nd, and that's with all my other mods now too.
I think part of it is that the ECU has adapted and you aren't getting a boost spike anymore. I remember driving my car out of AWE Tuning and HOLY CRAP did it pull. I was scared to use full throttle even in 3rd and 4th. It calmed down after a few more days. My car throws no codes, and all the requested vs actual boost logs look OK. Can't find anything wrong. My MAF seems to be fine too.

haha realy i think we are just getting used to the chip. i mean since we are aware of the new power it wont seam that fast anymore. mentally we are bracing ourself when the car starts to pull i guess. i mean the only test i guess it to take our cars to a dyno

TRY THIS:
Let one of your friends drive your car and YOU be the passenger. Guaranteed you will feel the POWER!! Let me know if it works for you...(it worked for me

Isn't this a good thing? I mean, the tires don't squak going into 2nd doesn't mean there isn't power...I think I would prefer to have a smooth boost curve rather than big boost spikes,...no?

I agree with this general feeling. I think most of it is perceptual, but I think its partially a clutch issue as well. When I shifted from 1st to 2nd the other day, the car just flew to 7k. A little scary. I guess I need a new clutch more than I thought.

Your performance report doesn't sound right/you might be rationalizing a technical problem. Chipped cars make characteristic sounds, depending on what one has.
Does it sound different? Often a meaningful clue. Others' advuce about ECU codes is good.
After 4 months, my 2002 GTI (93 octane chip and a slightly improved exhaust) will cheerfully leave two black stripes on concrete after a reasonable shift from first to second. I would investigate if my power (torque) diminished.
Summary: check codes, jump on a dyno (take the car too), and get out the stopwatch. Good Luck!

Re: chiped car getting slower...is it just me (medium cool)

yo guys i just drove my car and beat the sh*t out of my car.. i had to test out the power. when i shifter from 1st 2nd the car just wuoldnt stop pealing out. like it didnit just chirp but kept peeling out.... wow it felt good. i guess i still have all the power, i am just getting used to it. also i think the chip is getting used to the egine becosue the power is diffenatly alot smoother. for example when i first got the chip , when i floored the car in 2nd ther steering wuold shake alittle, but now it is very smooth. In conclusion i love the chip and think that upsolute is great.
also the car suonds great but i think its time for a better exoust. it suond cool like all the air gong through my turb is being dumped out the back of my car. i somtimes just floor my car to hear that nois... i guess im chip happy!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it may not be lost power, but subconscious muscle memory on my part to ease on the throttle and slip the clutch a little going into 2nd. Also, my clutch has 35K miles on it so it may be starting to go.
