My dad has a 2001.5 Passat V6 4MOTION, and he's wants to get better fuel economy. Has anyone chipped there GLX? If so what are the benefits? Is there improved fuel economy? Is the power increase noticeable? What chip is recommended?

Go with the Garrett chips for the 4 Motion. Your gas mileage will not dramatically improve by chipping the car, but the powerband will improve. I did notice better response when I did both the Tiptronic chip and ECU upgrades. When I switched to a SuperSprint Mid-Pipe and Remus Mufflers on my 2000, the fuel economy did dramatically improve! I've also heard of slight improvements with gas mileage when folks switch to K&N drop-in filters.

did this affect your warranty in any way??? and, do you recommend the cold air intake systems along with the chipping and supersprint exhaust?

Honestly, it depends on your VW Service Representative. My 2000 gets serviced at my local Exxon for oilchanges, while New German Performance does my major work. My 2001.5 is still under VW's B2B warranty, and I purchased an extended warranty from GEICO. Needless to say, if you plan on doing major modifications to your car then you should expect problems with warranty work from the dealership. Honestly, the guys at StohlmanVW couldn't tell that my car had exhaust work done while it was on the rack until the technician pointed out the shiney stainless steel catalytic converter cover by Supersprint.
