Hi All,
I am faced with a decision, i can afford one of the below for now but not both.
1) K04 Motorsport with custom programmed GIAC chip.
2) Schrick Cams
My current mods are in my sig. Scorpion SS 2.5" will be in next week hopefully. Being an AGU model im not sure if my existing turbo is a straight k03 or a k03 hybrid.
Products are from two seperate tuners, one claims cams are a better investment, the other claims GIAC/K04.
Any opinions?

Re: Choice to make, GIAC/K04 or Schricks (kaput_gti)

I think you will see the biggest useable gain from going GIAC/KO4. Cams typically only increase HP at higher rpms, maybe 10 HP? Assume there wouls be some re-tunig on the dyno with the cams to get the most out of them.
K04 and K04 chip should give you more torque and power "across the board", plus lower inlet temps. I'd say cams might help after you've done everything else.

Although I agree with Scotty, my feeling is that your "gains per dollar" with the K04 kit arent as good as, say with the APR or ATP Stage 3 kits. Basically, on a 2001 car, I dont recommend a K04 since it has a K03-sport already.
That is my opinion, and hey, you asked for it... I have a 2001 and I am too at a point where I could make that same decision... I dont have the cash for either - but if I did, cams would be my choice... later!

I would say go with the K04. It seems that there haven't been many people use the cams yet and a lot of those people seem to have a problem after the install. Unless the people with cams that haven't had any problems just aren't posting about it. Too much risk for not enough gain IMO.
