OK hear goes...My 84 rocco won`t rev past 3k.I`ve replaced the filter, fuel dist.flapper (air)valve, all vacuum hoses, etc. The only thing I can think of now is the fuel pump.
The mechanical parts came from my 86 golf donor car,my former daily driver, which ran excellent at the time it was transformed into a parts car.The engine seems to bog bad like it`s not getting enough fuel. Now it will run for 5-8 minutes then dies.Sometimes it then doesn`t want to start.WHAT THE FLAMIN HOOTEY IS WRONG!! if I can`t fix this thing by spring,it`ll be in the "for sale" forum.really.I`ve been fighting FI probs for a year now, and I`m getting a little impatient.I bought this car in hopes of making it my daily driver. I knew it was gonna take some work but this is rediculious.

Re: cis inj. woes (bigswede)

I am having the exact same problems with my 81 Scirocco. I was under the impression that my problems were spark related not fuel. The car was carboning up before. I have replaced the coil, ICM, spark plug wires, coil wire and done all the multimeter tests to no avail. It won't even start now. Before it would start and run badly up to 3000rpm then cut out and the tach would drop instantly to zero. Then it would fire again and then backfire. the other day I got it to start and run for 15 or 20 minutes but it wads running ruffer then ever. I couldn't find any thing in the wiring by jiggleing that had any effect on the cars running performance. What now? well I still haven't changed the hall sender or the fuel pump or the relay but they seem fine. Hall sender passed the multimeter test.
Does anyone know what happens when a Hall Sender fails?

Need to do some fuel pressure checks before you start replacing fuel parts, did you check out to see the RPM sensitive pump relay is cutting out?
How do you know its not the coil / pickup / or module cutting out on you?
