This weekend I attempted replacing my burned out city light in my Jetta e-codes. However, I could not remove the socket from the headlight assembly. I tried pulling, rotating and pulling, looking for locking tabs, etc...all to no avail. How do I remove the socket from the assembly?

was there any need to remove the entire headlight, or can i get to the city light in my gti through the engone bay? i know i can get to the regular headlight and fog without removing the entire light but is this the same for the city?
