VWVortex is great. Thanks, to those responsible for keeping the site running and doing so in a mature and professional style.
Since the Golf III & Jetta III forum is the best, let's make our classified section the best! Post you ideas for an easy buy/sell process
I'll start it off...
1. When in email correspondence, set you email to leave the copy of the incoming message so that Buyer/Seller knows what your last correspondence was about.
2. Read the whole post/thread, before asking a question that may have already been answered.

BTW, I don't want to be completely negative I just thought we could improve the classifieds easily.

Should I go through with it?

No, cause then you will be closr2dun instead of Farfrhomdun.

Re: Classified Oath (Farfrhomdun)

Hey Nice Car
, I as well wonder what type of bumper is that, can you please tell us?
...
You should consider taking a picture of your car, and Photoshoping the Boser in place with it's right color and all... Personally I think it looks nice, but I don't really know if I were to put a Boser like that on my car...
Anyways Good Luck and keep it shinning, looks Awesome http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif ...

Re: Classified Oath (NENE_VR6)

Sorry Reed, I don't care for grill spoiler (boser) look on your car . . . it breaks the flowing line. I think your car looks great without the added piece. What does Curt think? Oh, I agree with your comments on reading the entire thread before you ask questions, a very good point. I would add to your point that those selling tires and wheels should post not only the size of the wheels and tires, but the offset and the bolt pattern. Oh, and please don't state something is in perfect condition . . . and then go on to list the size of the scrapes and scratches.
Re: Classified Oath (Farfrhomdun)

I know this topic's been beaten over and over again but the main issue people here would like resolve to is security when purchasing. One idea I've thought of is for the current Mods to hire a new Mod who would do this idea I have cooked up on the side, for free, as a contribution to Vortex. Here goes:
Anyone who wishes to sell something can forward the Mod in charge a credit card number including all the information you would require to give a store if you were to purchase something. The card will then be charged $5 by Vortex. This $5 will go towards the site and can be used to pay for things such as new shirt designs, zeroforum fees, etc. This one time $5 charge will enable the seller to be a seller for life. So, let's say Joe Blow sends his card info in, has his card charged $5 by Vortex and his credit card information is now on file. I then want to buy an ABT spoiler from Joe Blow. Joe Blow and I both send emails to the Mod, the Mod replies that Joe Blow has a credit card on file, I send Joe Blow the money, I get my goods. If I don't get my goods, Vortex charges his card whatever price was noted on the email sent earlier. What do you think?

Maybe the Mods can think up some sort of waiver for sellers and/or a user agreement?
Re: Classified Oath (feeling_sinister)

I agree that we need a better system for the classifieds. The truth is, this is an extremely difficult thing to monitor. The credit card deal sounds good in theory, but I would not feel comfortable having an online file of my CC number. Maybe if they set up a 3rd party escrow system this would be the best thing. The buyer would send the money to the vortex, with an added stamp inside for the Vortex to send out to the seller after the buyer receives his product.
to answer your question about your front end...if you get a real one made, it would look sweet http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif What front bumper is on your car?

I think the boser flows really good with the Deitrich front bumper. I definately would do it if I had the cash. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: Classified Oath (CNY_VDUB)

We really should make up an index of all the honest people on here, and make it so everyone has access to it all the time! I have gone through at least 7 sales on here, and never had problems until recently. If we can just get a rating system going, things will shape up real quick. Make a list of people, and have them list references with email addresses. I know if I got an email that asked if john so&so was a good buyer, I would take the time to answer it!
Re: Classified Oath (ghettlo)

looks good... but im not into the huge boser molded on to the hood thing...

My friend just had the EXACT same setup done, he's not on the vortex though! Looks very good in-person, very mean....

Re: Classified Oath (Farfrhomdun)

my complete guess on the classified thing is to just be careful.
Maybe some bored soul can design a website with all the user names who use the classified and a comments section (guesbook type thing) under each user name. an ebay type thing w/o the ratings, only the comments?
I personally would never buy something from anyone w/o knowing a few people who say they are legit. Or without their complete info, as they would have mine. name, address, telephone, where they work.
IMO if a seller felt uncomfortable giving out that info well then......be weary like lake erie

Re: Classified Oath (feeling_sinister)

Farfrhomdun, I think you have touched a nerve. Feeling-sinister has a decent plan to guard against a complete rip off (never getting your goods) However most complaints about internet sales are about the condition and discription of the goods received. It seems people (not all) have a tendency to discribe what they are selling using words like . . . perfect . . . like new . . . These descriptions create very high expectations. Then the dispute begins.
I don't feel the people at Vortex will want to become the classified police. Would you want to take on the task of settling every dispute?, ie. "I paid $350 for this (whatever) and in its condition I think its only worth $250"Getting involved with this type of program would require many $$$ and lawyers. The cost alone could cause advertising (for tuners and parts suppliers)on the Vortex to spin upward and out of control. Think about it; if you were in charge of an advertising budget and your cost of doing business on vortex doubled or trippled, would you reconsider how you spend your money? Remember, someone has to pay the price . . . most of the time that falls on the advertisers, and they truly get nothing in the way of improved service for the extra cash. That type of litigation could financially crush the site.
The only answer is to follow some of TREKinFlorida's advise. I like to get as much info about a person as I can. Work and home phone numbers, home address . . . then call them and get a feel for them . . . should you get the correct answers to all your questions and you feel comfortable . . . go for it. You have to go with your gut feeling. No outside source is going to insure the success of your transaction.

Re: Classified Oath

My big gripe is with folks that say that they want something and promise to have payment in the mail the next day only to email 4 days later with some lame ass excuse that they need your address again and so on. They take forever to send payment and then hound the hell out of you the minute that they really do put the check in the mail wanting to know if the item has been shipped yet. They can jack me around for 3 weeks on sending payment, but i'm supposed to drop everything in my life the minute their payment arrives to send it out to them.
