Hi, quick question. I have a 2012 Jetta GLI.
I got a CEL last month, had it scanned at a store and it came back P2015, so without further investigation, I ordered the intake manifold and finally got around to replacing it yesterday. I also cleaned the valves and replaced the injector seals as well.
It started up fine (once gas got back into the rail) and runs fine, however it still has the CEL.
I stopped at an AutoZone on the way home from work today and they scanned it for and it's still P2015. The scanner they used just downloads the codes from the car and then they have to plug it into a computer inside, so they couldn't clear it for me.
I looked and it appears that the cable to the flap position sensor is plugged in, but I couldn't reach it to check how well it is attached... I could remove the oil filter and check if I need to.

My question is: Do I need to get an OBDII scanner or VAG-COM USB cable to clear the code, or should it have gone away on its own? If it should have gone away away on its own and it hasn't, what else could it be?

Thanks,
-Matt

That’s what I thought.
From what I understand, the issue is the flaps in the manifold are stuck or, conversely, able to travel too far. The fix is to replace the manifold, which I did, so not sure where else I am having a problem. I guess first I will triple check that everything is plugged back in...
Any other thoughts?

Reviving an old thread just because I’m having the same issue P2015 code on my 2012 GLI. I ordered the manifold from ESC and realised afte I ordered it it was the bare manifold, no sensors. Tried installing it to see if it would clear using the old sensors and no luck. Removed the new manifold and replaced the intake runner position sensor with a new OEM one (the sensor behind the oil filter), reinstalled new manifold with new sensor, and still have the code. Been through multiple drive cycles and clear the cod with my scanner but as soon as the cars turned off and back on again it reappears. Did you ever figure out what the issue was?

Honestly, I don't remember exactly, but I think it went away on its own. I had to rent space at a co-op garage (I live in a city) to work on it, and I see from my records I didn't buy any more parts or pay garage fees again after this post. I did buy a VAG-COM scanner, but I remember that I never even got to use it, because it took like 3 weeks to come and the problem was solved by then.
