Hi,I have been debating on a cluch for my corrado.I have a 93vr6 with a v1 some other mods. I want a cluch that will grab hard but not kill trannys.I drive the car on occation and its not a daily for me but that doesnt mean i want to be doing this again for a while.
My stock cluch didnt slip at 12psi but i was hoping to put more power to the ground when i replaced the motor. Im looking to run 17psi when the kit is released so i want a cluch that will hold up to it.
I replaced my stock cluch with a 6puck unsprung disk from spec and shortly after the car was put back together the 2nd gear went out.Not from syncros it was in gear caught traction and felt like it just poped out. Come to find out the teeth on the gear are ground off and the tranny is now dead. I got another tranny and it has a stock gear set. Before i install it im wondering if i need to get a new cluch.Im hoping that this was a fluke thing that just never happens and i can use the same one as it only has 1000miles on it. If this is going to be a problem i want to fix it now.
I was told that the vwtrannys are weak and that i cant run a cluch that has that much chatter or it will just keep doing this.I need help cause i want to get the car going and dont know if its safe to throw the new gear box in with this cluch. Also is there a fluid that would be better then just dealer fluid and might help to keep the gears in good shape?
Heres what i found when i drained the last tranny
I think i found 2nd gear
