Well, my tranny has decided to start doing weird things last night. The throwout bearing has been chirping like a bird on crack recently and causes all gears to be very hard to engauge when at low engine speeds and at a stop. Once up to speed and with the motor revving (above 3K), shifts are normal.
Is the pressure plate not disengauging fully causing much more effort to shift gears? What is "broken" and needs to be fixed? I'm relatively sure it is the orignial clucth at about 85K miles of use so far.
If the common diagnosis is that the clutch/PP/TOB are done for, what is a good setup to replace it with? Motor is in a MK2 which should see boost by the end of the year (300+ whp is the goal). Is it worth it to do the mondo clutch now or stick with close to stock until necessary (LSD and beefy axles coming with the boost)?
Tossed in as well - LW flywheel worth it, troublesome, brands, suggestions, etc?
I know this is a lot of info I'm requesting, and the search feature is taking me to some gay porn website (
) so I'm trying to stay away from that function.

Re: (NLO)

If there are problems with the clutch then you really have to begin by fixing it first. Low gear oil will also cause the same kind of problems so I would give this a check while you are in there. For the power you are going for the stock clutch my be fine but it will be borderline. Lightened flywheels and high performance clutches tend to take away from drivability so don't go too wild if you want to drive it in traffic.
