This post is for "TDI RAY" or anyone with specific knowledge.
I would like to modify my TDI using the same procedure as a 1.8.
I had the battery and air filter box out of my Jetta this past weekend for
other maintenance. It looks about the same to me.
Can this mod be accomplished on a TDI.
However the air filter box is a little different. Not much.
How would an increase in airflow affect the TDI?
Thanks in advance

Re: Cold Air Induction Mod for 2000 Jetta TDI (Boeing_757)

IMO - these CAI's are not worth the time or money. Our engines get enough air, and it is cold air. I understand that there are many right angles in out ductwork, but the engine is not lacking in the air department.
A decent filter and that is more than enough.

Re: Cold Air Induction Mod for 2000 Jetta TDI (Boeing_757)

Iregardless of air filter boxes you use the MAF sensor is still located AFTER the air filter/box so if there is any real improvement the MAF will detect it and compensate for it.
The turbo especially on the TDI comensates for any restriction effortlessly. The VNT-15 is well matched to this application. If you choose to go with the air box try and run the original intake point at the base of the hood to the box. This way you can preserve the slight benefits of "ram effect" at higher speeds and reduced FOD ingestion.
