color options on my caddy?

397 Views 9 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Weaver
i just picked up an '80 caddy today. body is straight as he!!. previous owner just put on a full cabby front end w/ single rounds. but all the parts came from the factory and are still the black primer. the rest of the truck is a dark metallic blue. i would like to keep it some kinda blue but mabie something a little different. any pics of caddys w/ decent paint would help me decide? or any pics of caddys at all would be nice. i also need options on a rear bumper. its messed up and i dont like the big ass chrome one

well i can post pics but i dont wanna =p but i will help you on your rear bumper question... you have 2 options, remove it and deal without it, it was an option at the dealer and you can tell a cop that if he pulls you over for it, or pull it and make a roll pan like they have for s-10's to round it off... thats what you can do without modification, if you wanna do something different your skillz and or pocketbook are the only limits. i personally like the way it looks without a rear bumper..

U can take off the bumper and custom weld in some sheet metal to cover the gap the bumper left.
I probably didnt make sense so I will post some pics of what I'm talking about when I get home http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

I can understand your dilemma....there are so many nice colors to chose from out there!
i have 2 caddies sitting in my driveway, one is burgandy (front end damage) and the other one i bought from wabbit willie awaiting a new paint job. so far i'm thinking of painting it a nice shade of grey ...maybe anthracite grey...but then again, maybe a harlequin edition caddy wouldn't be so bad

i think i just might paint it the stock color. anyone have the paint codes for the metallic blue?

Lago Blue LE5B
Tarpon Blue Metallic LE5V
its one of those 2 colors. most likely the metallic.

yeah its hard to choose a color for the for sure, you see all these hot colors on the bunnys but it doesn't mean it'll look good on a stretched out caddy ya know. so i've decided as i knock out the body work that i just spray flat black over the primer. with all the new goodys on the car it looks pretty hot actually, alot better then the poor paint that was on it before. and when i finally do decide on the a color all i gotta do is a quick light sand and i'm ready to go
