It's really cold here in Idaho (below 0 all day). I drove around for a few hours, and just as I was pulling into the driveway, the tranny completely stopped working. It shifts into all the gears, but instead of moving it just makes a soft grinding noise when I let out the clutch. The car rolls like it's in netural no matter what gear it's in.
Anyone ever seen something like this before? It's an 020 9A tranny in an '85 GTI. I was expecting some warning when the transmission decided to go, like one or two gears not working, but this is pretty extreme.
