Condensation in Left GOLF IV light

489 Views 10 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  Not-Dubbin
I have the Golf IV style headlights for my Jetta III. For some strange reason only the passenger side has condensation. Why is this? The driver side light is fine. I did nothing to the sealant around the lights glass and the cover behind the lights is closed tightly. PLEASE HELP!!!! Now water is building up inside and I dont know how it will effect the light bulb and everything else.
One more thing. Will the Golf IV style headlights handle 12V 100W bulbs?? I was planning on buying the Hella Optilux Bulb H7 12V 100W bulbs for better and brighter output.
Thanks

My buddies 1.8T does this as well! I dont think it's anything to worry about until water actualy starts to build up! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

make sure the little rubber vent hose on the back of the light is not pinched. If it is, that might not be letting the humidity out.

Nah the bulbs are working fine, its been like this for 2 days now. Nothing has gone wrong yet (KNOCK ON WOOD). Is this the same thing as everyone else??

i got a hole in my pass. headlight about a month ago and there is heavy condensation. my bulb is still working so you should be fine for at least a month.

Mine does it too (sometimes, not always) after I wash my car. I just take the bulb cover panel off and let it dry out. Takes about an hour or so (at least here in Cali).

I see a lot of this on "H" cars, on the "euro-style APC tails". I think your problem might be in the seal. Check if the silicone bead (seal) around the lights is good, because if there is the slightest crack in it then it will let in condensation!
It's an easy fix though. Don't worry about it.
