What's going on. New here and i'm searching for my question and no luck so far so i figured i ask here.
I am considering to get a MK3 Golf. I found a 96 Golf GL 2.0. My question is, is this engine good enough to get some good HP ratings? If not could i swap it with no problem with a 1.8T or VR6 or will there be major modifications? Please help and Thanx in advance

with out a lot of money goign into the 2.0 it will not be fast. it will be quick for sure and pretty darn peppy and enough to get around town and into some trouble but it will not be all out fast. i would get the car and swap a 1.8t in it for sure over a vr6. they are easier to get more hp out of it and it is lighter and the sound of turbo is fantastic. plus it is only about another 1 to 2k for (with a chip) quite a bit more hp. just make sure you get the 180 hp over the 150 hp if you go the cash it will be well worth it. with ship intake and exhaust i have heard up to 225 so yeah for an extra grand you could be at that. anyways good luck and have fun with what ever you decide to do http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Go with a vr6, the sound of the exhaust is incredible, it roars, and has 174 HP before mods, and can be done for thousands less.

well I have a mk3 right now and I am doing a VR' swap as we speak. I prefer the vr6 just because it's more torquey and if you want you could still turbo it. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

go VR6 since they came in these cars, alot less headachs, i wanna do it to... i need to start saving tho! lol
