Has anyone ever done this tranny swap? Or does anyone know the gear ratio/final drive of the 337 GTI Tranny or the stock TDI Golf tranny?

I believe the final drive ratio is much less than a TDI-
.812 Vs the TDI's stock .745 ratio. (so you will run higher RPMs on the highway. 10% higher)
it would be better and cheaper to get a ERW code transmission from Europe.

5 speed is better for the TDI you will shift way too much on the 6 speed. It would just be a cool thing to have and thats it. 5 speeds means that you spend more time in boost rather than shifting. On the 1.8ts the 1st and 6th gear are the same as the 1st and 5th on a 5 speed with another gear thrown in the middle. That is my dislike about the MKIV R32, you shift too much because the gears aren't far enough apart

two of the sources I knew of are no longer in business.
swapping from a 5-speed to a 6-speed tranny is more than just the Transmission.
Drive shafts, clutch, starter, flywheel, shift tower, shift linkage, I think that is about it.
this is the same for an O2M conversion from a domestic GTI.
A friend locally got one off ebay (ebay.uk or ebay.de I don't remember), (cheap) and had to get it rebuilt because it would not go into reverse. but it was still less than $1000 he had into it.
