converting from a ABA motronic to digifant 1 g60 injection

this is nothing definite, just wanted to know how hard this would be to do? Would be worth it going to the g60 injection over the motronic? Or should I just work with what I have to tune my turbo x-flow

Check your air/fuel ratio's first. If you are leaning out then you might want to use the larger G60 injectors. But if you are going with a turbo setup, I'd definetly use them, the injectors plug right in. Get some new o-rings from VW for them to create a good seal.

Well, I was actually referring to swapping out the motronic ecu, in favor for the digifant 1 g60 ecu. I was thinking since the g60 ecu has a map sensor it would be easier to dial in a turbo setup on my car, as opposed to getting a bunch of piggy back systems or going stand alone engine mangement. I have a plan for my fueling issues using the motronic ecu, using an EIC and adjstable FPR, and some other things for fuel management. But I want to see what other options are out there in particular the digifant ecu.
Thanks for the response..........any more ideas??

well the big benefit from a digi-1 ecu is that it can module both timing and fuel (to some extent) based on map settings. You can do the same with an EIC and BTM of some sort too. I think PSI was talking about a harness adapter a while ago. If you can pickup a cheap good harness and ecu and throw some 30# injectors you can easily run over 200whp..

why not use custom fuel/spark for it? TEC-II or something...Do you have some need for stock VW systems? I personally would not go back in time with injection systems...not that digi 1 is not cool, I like it alot, but on an A3, I would use cutom fuel/spark if I could not get what I want out of it...
just my .02

I'm almost positive it's illegal to backdate your fuel injection and/or emissions controls on a street car. For my 16v, it's defintely not backdating. In fact it's about 20 years newer. 70s-->90s. On an ABA, you really want to look into the laws regarding changing that stuff. Imagine going through everything to swap digifant in, and then getting fined and having to switch it back.

the 91-cali and 92 digifant-1 ecu's are capable of OBD-I if that is what you have now you would most likely need to hack that in place. Sounds like a pain imo. By all means get the best money can buy you. If you have $1500-2000 to buy a complete aftermarket system (with sensors, etc) and dyno time (easily $500 of that price) then by all means. in that respect you'll get what you pay for.

Thanks guys for the info, I doubt I would go this route, but it's nice to get some info to help weed out other methods for of engine management and fueling.
Thanks

Wouldnt you get higher gains and more potential if you just put a supercharger on your engine? (Thats assuming you pay for a lot of labor though...).
Yea, backdating emissions equipment is illegal, and your car runs a reasonable chance of failing smog when you do that. Such is life though...If I had to make a somewhat (well...not really) educated guess, I would say that you would be fine in the tailpipe if you left the cat on.

I have a turbo on my car now, considering the supercharger options out there, I haven't been too impressed with HP/TQ gains. It is easier to get more horsepower out of a turbo engine than a supercharged one(I have nothing against superchargers) I used to have an old Paxton supercharger on my car, and it yielded ok gains, and I was limited to what mods I could do to the car to make more boost as fear of blowing up the supercharger.
