I did a search and thought this thread was particularly helpful, but im not sure if its exactly what my problem is.

i have been steadily losing coolant, except mine seemed to be leaking from the lower radiator hose on the end closest to the radiator. I was about to replace it but when i was looking under there and saw that the hose i thought had a crack in it and was the cause of my problems was infact fine.

So is my problem the same as the one listed there ? Also i was under my car trying to find the part the needed to be replaced that was in that thread, and i couldnt find it. Does anyone happen to have a pic to point me in the right direction ?
I was in a rush too, it just snowed and my garage floor was all wet and i didnt want to lie there more than i had too.

Probably the coolent flange......I changed mine over the hoildays

so chad, u dont know where its leaking from??? LOL, where abouts on the motor is it wet from coolant?

well, its more or less all wet. It looks like its coming from the bottom of the passenger side of the radiator. or somewhere in that general area. Its not the coolant flange as far as i can tell. And i had a run in with a 2 foot high light in my freinds driveway today and now have a dented drivers side door panel.

ehhh u can get that pulled! if its the lower left check ur water pump, just follow that hose that u thought was leaking back to where it ends, see if thats all wet, if it is its probly leaking lol...the o-rings might have gone bad

is the coolant flange the plastic piece that all the coolant hoses tie into in that area, is it a PITA to install, whats it look like?

i have a leak from the pass side of the rad
turns out the coolant couldn't withstand the minus 40 C temperature and froze over alittle
lets just say the rad kinda burst near the hose.
Not fun to replace.

THis is the coolent flange on a manual 2.0.

yea, im worried about the same thing. everything on the passenger side is wet with coolant, waterpump is, radiator is, and everything in between.

http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=830311 here is one of my threads on it, turns out I had two leaks one from the coolant flange and then the woolant pump was also busted, had to replace both to get it to quit. but the car is toast now so it doesn't really matter

the coolant pump is underneath the car - leads from the radiator via the lower radiator hose ?
