You can't beat multi-valve technology. That being said, I'd kick that 4 cyl out of the engine bay and replace it with a 24V VR6

I don't even want to think what a used W8 will run $$$...let alone what a crate motor would...
I would think a decent used one once they become available will be at least $6k, probably more like $8-10k

A friend is currently building a 16v G60 and when done this should have around 300+ bhp. This is a good compromise between handling and go. The VR is a good motor but it is a fat bastard yea you can turbo it and supercharge it but personally I prefer the 16v G60 route as this is a lite engine that will make good power and still handle well with out washing into cronic understeer when nailing it around a bend, up to you really, but this is what I think.
