Cost for good paint job? Details please

Well my 4 months old black gti is all screwed up now. I have scuff marks on both doors, I have wolverine claw marks on my trunk. I also have swirl marks. Dont get me wrong, the car is still beautiful and the paint is still in great condition...just some parts of the car arent too good now.
So, probably by next year I will need a new paint job and I really want to paint it a super bright white.
How much will a complete paint job cost?
Also in order for them to paint the whole car, will they have to remove in the interior?
What about the engine bay? How exactly does his work? Must they drop the engine for this? I dont know if i would trust a paint shop to touch my engine...
Whos got the top info?

A color change?
Oh, that is expensive, a quality I-CAR Gold Class shop would be required and would run from $3500 to $4500.

That's about right. Color changes are mad expensive. Your best bet if you're going to repaint is to have the shop re-paint the scuffed/scratched panels the original color.

What might help bring the cost down is to be prepared to do some of the work yourself. I had my red/black/burgundy/primer car repainted last year. (Non VW) I removed everything that could get in his way. I took off all the trim and other nonessential parts that weren't getting painted. I took the headlight doors, fuel filler door/trim off so the would be properly painted underneath. I asked him to paint those components separately. These small details made a big difference in the quality of the paint job, and also saved me a good percentage of what the total would have been.
All in all the job turned out much better when put back together as if I had left the stuff on. They probably would have masked and painted all around it. That in my opinion is a downfall of a full color repaint. To have a shop remove all the stuff I removed adds a lot of $$.
My total cost to go to from multicolor to metallic blue = $1200

If you do have a color change, plan on getting new glass as well. My next door neighbor did it, and in order to do it right, you will have to gut the car. I guess the glass moldings are glued to the glass, and once the glass is removed, it is no longer useable because you have to cut the weather stripping off the glass. If you do it right, you will also have to pull the motor to paint on the inside of the bay.

A skilled glass shop can remove these without ruining them. I've heard a price of $200 CDN in Toronto to remove rear quarter windows and rear glass (3 windows).

A color change is rediculous....it's gona cost 7-10g's. If it doesn't you dont want it. Wait until you can get another car in the color you want. Forget the color change, it's a HUGE deal....
