As everyone knows, Mugen was started by Hirotoshi Honda's eldest son....
"Japanese prosecutors have launched a criminal investigation on Formula One engine supplier Mugen over a massive tax evasion, news reports said today. Prosecutors suspect Mugen, which has business relations with Honda Motor, evaded 600 million yen (five million dollars) in corporate taxes, the reports said, quoting sources close to the case." - taken from http://www.f1-live.com
This can't be good... Hope it doesn't come to an ugly ending...

If they did in fact do the crime, then they deserve to have an ugly ending.

One has to wonder why, to a company the size of mugen, wouldn't $5 million be a drop in the bucket?

Re: Criminal investigation on Mugen (MJGunn)

It seems like nearly every large company here gets caught for tax evasion. The fine will most likely be the original amount owed plus a minor "slap on the wrist" addition of around $500,000-1,000,000.

Hm, tax evasion in Japan? Don't they have REALLY harsh punishments?

yeah, they'll probably force them to read all the posts on ClubSi and edit all the technical inconsistencies. it'll take around 300 years to serve out that sentence

Everyone in the company has to cut off their legs with a hacksaw. The Japanese take work very seriously.

Some of the body kits they sell are criminally ugly. I wonder if they can be brought up on charges for that.

Exactly what I was thinking. But if it went into the pocket of just a few men/women, then it makes sense.

With the industrial world's most corrupt businesses, banks, and government, naah, there isn't anything that cannot be fixed or downplayed with the right bribes to the right people

charging $80 for a radiator cap should be criminal.

Charging it is fine, the person who actually buys it should be submitted into the nearest Looney Barn!

How can it? It's only $5 million. Some people get fired, they pay back a fine, and then it's business as usual.
