I got a new Blaupunkt Head Unit from Crutchfield. It came with a antenna adaptor. I installed everything and have no AM reception. There is a short wire on the antenna adaptor (ground or perhaps power???). Where do I connect this wire in my 2001 Golf GLS? Will this solve my AM reception problem?
thanks

Re: Crutchfield antenna adaptor (Alpanian)

VW's antenna's are amplified. So I believe that wire thingy needs to go to either the antenna remote turn on wire or the remote wire. Hope that helps http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif Do you have a picture of the adapter?

Re: Crutchfield antenna adaptor (poochie744)

I had the same problem and I didnt know what to do, neither did the installer's. So I took it back and order the subs and amps that a different place will install with a custom box. I'll be running it off the stock HU for now. Anyone got a OEM CD Changer for $100 or less shipped?

Re: Crutchfield antenna adaptor (Guvs97JettaGT)

Thanks guys. I connected the blue wire on the adapter to a blue wire that extended from the HU and was labeled "power antenna." Since our cars don't have power antennas, I used this as the 12v source. I now have perfect AM reception. The FM did not really noticeably change. It is good enough, but didn't improve.
