i want to make my shifter "shorter" by cutting the rod but i've heard people say if you cut past that dimple in the rod the shifter won't hold in place.. does this mean that i can cut like half the dimple off?? what about unscrewing, and removing the rod, and cutting it from the bottom? Is that possible?? any help would be appreciated on how to get the shortest shifter possible

Re: cutting the shifter (20Vstyle)

this is 1.25 inches shorter
after cutting you need to grind one side down"D' shaped to put the knob back on and also keeps it from turning around
there was a "how to link" link but can't find it right now

Re: cutting the shifter (1.8TWolfsberg)

It does feel better and not as rubbery
When the knob went back on visually it is lower but doesn't look too low
I did not want to fight with something too.. low I think it was just right
BTW I measured the piece I cut off it was exactly 1.25"from the top
