*cough relay 173 cough
Re: Day time running lights (benjie-l.a)

actually the yellow wire BEHIND relay 173, if you pull out relay 173 there will be no handbrake light anymore "if u need it", but yea, just unplug the yellow wire.
Re: Day time running lights (gti303)

we dont need no stinking handbrake lights!
Re: Day time running lights (benjie-l.a)

where is relay 173?
Re: Day time running lights (blkjettavr6)

look under neath your steering colum...and you will see it....there are quite a few relays under there.
Re: Day time running lights (blkjettavr6)

Buy a European light switch. You will probably need one later if you do any other lights mods especially HIDs.
Re: Day time running lights (99ventovr6)

Boys, i don't have a relay 173!!!!!!!!! I am also missing one more!?!?!? But my parking brake lights still work!
Re: Day time running lights (1996eurogti)

WAIT WAIT WAIT...It depends on what year car that you have to know how to kill the DRLs...pottermans sent me a sheet with my euro switch...on cars made before mid 96 (like mine) you just pull a relay, i think its 110, but im not sure, ill have to check when i get back to school next week...on later cars you pull the 173...they way you tell is this: if your car has all the parking lights on and the tail lights when the DRLs are on, then pull the relay, but if only your headlights are on, then pull 173 wire
Re: Day time running lights (VR6 Mk3)

I pulled out 110 and nothing happend but I forgot which one itgoes in,see there was the one rom thatnnying chime that I took out! What number does it go next to? Also, does anyone have this annoying ringing, whining type thing when there car us only on ACC?

On my CL I don't even HAVE relay #110, I had to get one so I could run foglights. So I can definately tell you, its not #110

Although, if anyone wants one, I have one for sale for $85cnd

Re: Day time running lights (Lyzic)

i pulled 173 and it works fine (just no parking brake light). it was a real pain to get out. i think it was the one with the most little prong things

is there anyway to just run the parking lights? or am i going to have to get a euro switch. i plan on getting one anyway.

yea, but why pull a whole relay out when the drls are controlled only with 1 wire? and that wire has a joint in it too to BE detached...its easier, and better, what happens if you loose the relay? and u gotta sell your car back to the dealer? seriously, its like taking out your entire headlight assembly to do wiring just to remove the drl's...just unconnect the wire man...easy as pie...

==--
i have done this, with no side effects...took about 5 minutes...
Re: Day time running lights (scarecro)

i couldn't get to the wire! there is no room to get my hand back there. how do you think i should get the wire out? and is it the yellow and black wire or is it just a solid yellow?

Yeah, but your car is a 96.5 or later, right?? I just pulled out whatever relay it was and it works with no side effects...i still have my ebrake light...maybe 110 was the one i bridged for the foglights/highbeams...i did something with 110 and another one, but i forget, i have the sheet at my house at school.
Re: Day time running lights (blkjettavr6)

The DRL relay on some of the earlier mk3's was a #94 relay instead of a 173.
The 110 relay is for the fogs. if you pull the 110 and put the bridge and jumper in, you get hi's and lows together , and also fogs aloen with euroswitch.
If you pull the DRL relay (94 or 173) you lose the DRL's and the e-brake light. To get the e-brake light back, make a jumper between slot #4 and #7 where the DRL relay used to be.

Re: Day time running lights (98GTi-VR6)

yeah, 94 sounds familiar...just pull that badboy out and you will be all set http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif if you are facing the fuse box, it should be kinda up towards the top, on the right, behind a bunch of other ones...a little tough to get your hand up there
