Daytime running lights

One very simple way to disable the DRL on Mk3's is to actually pull the relay under the dash and above the fuse panel.
1. Flip down the fuse panel and above the fuses should be a few rows of relays.
2. You will find the DRL relay in the third row up. It is marked with a big 173 on the top or the part number will either be 431 951 253 F or 3A0 941 589.
3. You can pull this relay without effecting anything else in the electronics.

Re: Daytime running lights (abdrury)

or just put electrical tape over the TFL pin on your head light switch
Re: Daytime running lights (jayseal22)

Just adding a euroswitch won't kill the DRL's...........plz. read the DIY thread at the top of the Mk3 forum and find out....

is that a rear fog light? on that euro swith, because the glx mkIII came with i guess half euroswitch,
i got daytime running lights and if you turn right and out the fog lights come on, so whats that extra fog light?

Yup, that would be a rear fog light.

If you pull the fuse 173 out, you won't have the light in your instrumental cluster saying your parking brake is engaged.. at least mine does that.

Re: Daytime running lights (d6)

My bad I did overlook that. I guess I really don't look to see if that light comes on when I pull my parking brake. Sorry for the misleading info.
Re: Daytime running lights (twiztidvw)

Re: Daytime running lights (MrVrSix)

i still think taping the TFL pin is the easiest. you don't need to unscrew anything to get to the fuses. all ya do is pop the headlight switch out, unplug it, tape the pin, and plug it back in, it takes all of 10 sec. and if for some reason you ever want your DRL's back, just take the tape off
Re: Daytime running lights (Madtac44)

well you can always put the relay back into place also. I don't see the trouble in that.
