I'll be closing a deal on an '02 GTI in the next week or so and was thinking of going with the VW/Eibach sport springs right away. Should I be able to negotiate these installed at a better than average price before taking delivery?
How much do these lower the car, and how much will handling improve over stock springs?
Re: Dealer installed Eibachs on new GTI before delivery? (spongebob_squarepants)
I got a set of these on mine and they are soooooooo much better than the stock springs. It lowered the car about a little more than 1 inch---doesnt seem like much but you'd haveto see it. Sorry i dont have any pics. My best friend has the autotech springs on his 01 GTI 1.8T--his car is identical to mine in ride height but his is more bouncy than mine. Also if you have problems with your car blowing a strut bearing------yours will still be under FACTORY warranty-----my friends will not! I say get em if they give you a good deal. I also have that Remus exhaust you get from the dealer too---(I work for Porsche + Audi + VW dealer) and I love the sound......It has a low deep rumble but its not real loud at all. Also it looks real nice....Once again no pics, but will have soon.

Your friend should have installed some Bilstein HD or Sport shocks from Autotech to match the springs. That's why his car feels "bouncy." It's underdamped. If he's using stock shocks with stiffer springs, then they won't last a long time and he'll end up paying for two installations in the end.

16V Hare, thanks for the info. It sounds like the way to go, now I've got to try and get a decent deal on dealer install. The springs are about $250, what's a fair price installed? Is the car so low that speedbumps and everything becomes a pain? Or just a tad lower than stock? It must look a little better than stock too.
I think they wanted like $600 for the Remus installed, I was thinking about that as well. I don't want anything too loud. Does the Remus add a couple HP, or just sound & look nice?
Hey, are you happy with Rave Green for your color choice? (any regrets?)
I'm down to either Rave Green or Silver, but the Rave Green car has leather & 17's so I'm leaning that way for a little more $$.

You know, warranty business is Monkey business. Even if you have dealer installed Eibach spring they can come up with million reasons not to honor your warranty.
"Oh you abused your car. That is normal wear and tear...sorry warranty doesn't cover personal fault. blah blah blah...." fckers!
Save your money and go with Eibach Prosystem. That is what I am getting and that is what many people recommend. Best system in terms of comfort and ride height.

Couldn't have said it better. Eibach Pro-System have a very high quality rating and are around $500 range at http://www.shox.com. That includes the Pro-Kit springs and Pro-Dampers.
Re: Dealer installed Eibachs on new GTI before delivery? (GTEYE 18T)
I'm taking delivery of a 2002 Jetta GLS with the Lux Sport Pkg next week. I ask the dealer, Don Valley, for a quote on the Eibachs:
$450CDN (springs) + $480CDN (labour) + $80CDN (alignment)
I called another dealer, Cedarbrae, that is 'tuning friendly', and they quoted me $740CDN for the whole thing.
My third option is to buy the parts and have them installed by an independant, Bero Motors, that knows exaclty what they are doing and I highly trust.
I'm leaning to the latter.
