dealer wants to pull my tranny w/ only 500 mi?

Apparently the dealer has tried twice to repair my 2k2 8v's differential problem by re-lubricating it with no go, the car has about 500 mi new on the dial, and the dealer already wants to replace the entire tranny
in lieu of having to go to this extent, should I beware of any problems down the road, my concern is that it won't be like it was when it left the assembly line, meaning all sealed up and tight anytime you drop a tranny or pull a motor this is the beginning of problems down the road right?

It all kind of depends on how much "love" they put in when working on it. I wouldn't fret too much though, at least they are doing everything under warranty.
Still though it sucks to hear you're having big problems so new

are they talking replacing the whole unit with a new one complete with fresh seals? or just replacing the components?

I get new auto tranny and new left drive shaft and no problem. All under warranty.

auto or stick?
If they want to replace it for free go ahead and let them. This way problems down the road at leat won't be from the tranny that is crapping out on you now http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Sealed up and tight? This is a VERY simple procedure, almost like replacing a light bulb. Undo a few bolts and a couple of sensors, remove complete unit and replace with a new unit. Insert bolts and re-attach sensors. Kind of like non-intrusive surgery.

Had my tranny ripped out to do the 2nd gear synchro under warranty. It took 5 days (ordered wrong parts). Now it leaks oil like a bastard! I know what you mean. It's never the same once the monkeys F**K with it!!
