I love Defenders. If only they weren't so damned expensive.

Defenders are rediculously expensive in the US. One that is not in very good condition with over 100,000 miles can easily hit over 30,000. I have seen some on EBAY with reserves in the 60-60k range.

which engines do they have? TD5?? cus the new ones, since 2001 or may be 2000 only comes with the TD5. Its a great engine and its very easy to get 200+hp out of it.

My friend just picked up this...

1983 Land Rover Santana 88, Series IIIa, just over 70,000 kms. Apparently the Defender 90 is based on the Santana and they share the same gearbox. The Defender however has coil springs and is 2" longer.

VERY cool truck.

The Santana's were basically a special ordered "kit" from Land Rover specifically for the Smanish (Spain) market. They came in in pieces and were assembled in Spain and sold as Santana's.
The US never got the Series IIIA, it was the last leaf sprung development of the classic Series before going to coils springs and the Defender name.

The US only got the 3.9 V8. Defenders are still selling for big $$$ here.

Cool Land Rover, but didn't that dump truck take a wrong turn?

Mining museum on the road to Whistler BC... Driving by there in two weeks.
