Now, if someone can translate Italian, you can read the story at http://www.infomotori.com/news/a_35_IT_755_1.asp

It looks better without those red wheels. I actually found the Alpina one looks better.
Re: Didn't take long for the tuners to get to the new Mini (A4Jetta)

Article basically says the AC Schnitzer just launched a small foray into Mini Tuning. Initial products will be limited to wheels, suspension, and exhausts, pending larger demand.

Re: Didn't take long for the tuners to get to the new Mini (tyrolkid)

So can anybody post the specs on the engine, both the N.A. one and the supercharged one?
Is it just a scaled down version of BMW's 1.8l I4 or something completely different?

Also interesting how German tuners get their hands on cars barely days after the first rolls off the line

Re: Didn't take long for the tuners to get to the new Mini (David Votoupal)

now that ac schnitzer and alpina have got their hands onto the mini, i am waiting for hartage to complete the trio by shoehorning a 3.6 v6 into the engine bay, just for the sake of keeping with tradition.
on a different note i have already seen brabus ads touting modified SLs - i wonder when we can see the same offerings from carlsson and renntech?
Re: Didn't take long for the tuners to get to the new Mini (some9one)

Or a diesel Mini

A racing team in the Belcar series is building an M3-powered Mini for touring class. They found a little BMW label on the Mini engine, which meant they could put in any BMW engine they liked.
I'm going to have a look at their progress next weekend. The engine will be put in soon.

I was wondering the same thing, about the weight balance. I asked one of the drivers about it on a racing event yesterday, but he's no technical brain. I'm going to ask one of the engineers on the team next weekend.
I don't think it will be a problem though. If the engine is pushed back far enough, it should reach 60/40. The DTM V8 Audi TT is similar. It performed better this year with a longer chassis.

What about BMW's 2.0 diesel? Wouldn't it fit?

There's one Diesel in Belcar, a Bora/Jetta 2.5TDi. But it only performs well at endurance races. The M3 engine they'll use is a 340hp 3.0l racing engine.

Hmmm... maybe diesel and alternative power sources can be a new racing category

I really like what Hamann is producing for the MINI.

A very interesting development in the E30 world is that these wheels (HM4) will actually fit our cars!

Actually, they get their cars before the inital release. Good to see such support from the OEM's.

I'd be very surprised if they could ge the M3 engine to fit without massive modifications to the car. The 4 banger barely fits as it is.
Re: Didn't take long for the tuners to get to the new Mini (Rob)

What about the new 13B-REW? It's 30% smaller than the already small 13B
It should surely fit! Imagine, 250hp N/A in a Mini
